moving house and want to move number

I'm moving house and want to move my phone number which seems to virtually impossible.
Tallk talk (my current service) NO
Sky cannot start until you move in but not gaurenteed.
BT can start straight away but will first have to claim my current line back and then they will have the number and then they can transfer it. 11 working days min which could tie up my line at my old house until its done and I move in in 5 working days.

anyone here had any experience of this.

Cheers Pete

when we had A BT line we never had a problem they transfered the no on the day we moved.

I suspect BT are being awkward because you have left them

Its all down to what the regulator stipulates the SLA to be for certain activities. The telco's work to these, sod the customer!
