The Directory of Mobile Phone numbers goes live next week.
All numbers (including those belonging to children) will be open to cold calling.

i'm maybe a bit cynical, but they say they NEVER give out anyones mobile number, and then go on to say give them your details to be taken off the list?

That site seems more like a ploy to make a fair few quid from all the texts they will be sent to verify the code and prove ownership

Maybe i'm a huge cynic.

Allegedly, they act as an intermediary, connecting the call but not providing the recipient's phone no.

But that's not to say that they can't / won't offer a separate "UK Phone Book" -type service to paying customers (and I didn't mean the numbers' owners...)

Brilliant! Just what we needed...

All it told me was that I had been successfully added to their ex-directory list. Not that my number was removed from their system. They insist they do not give out numbers. Wonder what they do actually do to make a buck.

They connect the call and take a cut of the operators charges.

Their site says that they don't have childrens numbers in their directory and I'm reluctant to give them my number and have them text me so I just might try and change my phone registration to say I'm 8 years old.
