Caliper Choice/Alternatives
Just wondered what alternatives there are for the M16 caliper, i know there are Wilwood, but what others, pro and cons etc?
I am going to be using Westfield rear uprights, so believe these take the standard sierra rear calipers, what are my alternatives to these also.
I have not brought any calipers as yet, but wanted a clear idea of what i needed to save, to save my life!!!

hi, remember the austin maxi?? this was one of the first production cars to have 4 pot calipers. With very little modifications they can be used in an
M16 application....there was a time quite a while ago when most rally preped escorts ran with maxi calipers.......problem is not many maxis about
nowdays ime afraid

You are thinking of Austin Princess calipers. They are big heavy iron lumps though, not ideal for a 7.

Use the standard Cortina or Sierra stuff to suit whatever front end you have.
Avoid Wilwood fronts--- they will save unsprung weight but flex and give a very spongey pedal
At the rear Sierra or MGTF just about any other rear caliper around either dosen't have a hand brake built in or is off a FWD drive car hence
has a smaller piston.
Princess calipers are mega heavy, need extra plumbing and won't give you a better brake.
If you want vented discs fit spacers to the standard Cortia/Escort calipers and use capri 2.8i discs.
However vented discs shouldn't be required unless you have a massive engine.
