I never thought that you need Brembo calipers to slow you down from 75.
I must be a fool for doing 75 with stock brakes.

Thought you were going to talk about Lord Mandelson (aka Lord Liar) by the heading.
Cheers, Pewe
PS I do not ask or expect this site to take responsibilty for that remark - the truth speaks for itself!

quote: The mileage has come from motorway driving so do not be put off by this. I would never take it over 75mph which is 3000 rpm in 6th gear. As a
result very little strain has been put on the car which is why it still drives like a dream.
I heard a story, a while back, that someone bought a car driven by a granny who never took the car above some ridiculously low rpm.
This meant that the cylinder had worn but with wear lower in the bore due to slower moving pistons.
The person who bought it, revved it normally and due to the higher forces = elongalate parts, the rings hit the unworn cylinder portion and soon the
engine seized.
So it may not be a good think to be too light footed.
Sounds plausibubble but it could just as easily be bollox.

maybe he means never over 75mph on the motorway commute i know someone who brought a hayabusa brand new in 1999 and has done 40k miles and has
never been out of peterborough and never more than 100mph (thats 3rd gear if your pushing hard )

The reason is a load of crap but the result isnt. I'd never buy a car off an old granny who only drives to the shops and back. The engine has
very unlikely ever got up to temperature and as we all know (??) the vast majority of engine wear occurs at startup and first couple of mins. A
typical granny car that goes to the shops will never get a proper chance to bed in properly and end up never burning off the sulphurous compounds
(that form sulphuric acid amongst other things!!) by getting fully up to temperature - and you can imagine what that does to your engine and exhaust.
Thats the main reason why very low mileage town only cars corrode exhaust systems so quickly, and why used engine oil is so acidic.
