The lad did well , i dont know if he still has it but he bought a new power boat a few years back , the one i always wanted too.

Isn't that the guy that went into a race with a rebuilt engine in his 1930's Alfa with no testing and then was suprised when it blew up?

I saw that documentary. I thought it was really good, but he didnt do himself any favours at all, and did seem to be quite arrogqant.
He had a lovely car, and (From memory) an nice bird and co-driver. Shame he didnt finish the race, it was a fantastic opportunity and if i were him,
i would do it again. The biggest expense was that car at nearly £1m??? Wasnt it a ferrari or a bugatti???

Before he bought that car for the Mille Miglia he went to see my friends company, they supply historic race cars. He was offered one that was
elligible. He turned it down. The car he turned down cost less than he spent.... and it finished the race 
I agree though, it was a good show, but he does come across as very arrogant. I'm sure most of that is down to bad editing, I bet he's a
nice bloke really.

It was a Maserati, I think. Apparently it had a reputation for being fragile when it was new!
What upset him the most was seeing a Fiat 500 that DID finish the event...

The 1948 Maserati A6GCS has left a 800-thousand-pound hole in the Martin finances - a lot of omelettes.
His co-driver was Sarah Bennett-Baggs, herself a racing driver and team manager.
