Cheap Runner

I'm looking for suggestions on high mpg cars but cheap ones under £500 really, i drive 72 miles per day all motorways miles my current car an integra type r can do 37 MPG but i need something better than than more like 60 mpg any suggestions?

I have the bike but a bit far really, i used to ride to work when i was somewhere else and that was 36 mile round trip, that was bad enough LOL

306 td, do not rust, change the cam belt and they go on for ever.

I got one for my cousin two months ago, £100, needed rear brakes and rear suspension mounts for MOT.

Rear suspension mounts are quoted as being very expensive to replace, you can do this on the car.

not a bad suggestion, i learn't to drive in one, will be keeping an eye out for one,

any other suggestions?

what are the older shape ibiza diesels like?

LPG conversion ----- would give fuel costs equivalent to 70 mpg on your current vehicle.

For the money it would cost to convert my car i'd rather buy another and not ruin mine.

If you're more bothered about mpg than size there's a list:
Corsa (+td)
106 (+1.5d) had one pretty good on the motorway
Perodua Nippa (then again maybe not for the motorway)
Mini?
Fiesta (+td)
Clio (I'm sure they did a diesel)
There's tons of small cars...

one litre grandma car, something like a saxo etc. Low miles and good history.
