Something with a full visor (or windscreen) everytime - bees hurt, gravel at 50mph can kill.
Not to mention this photo (from Agriv8)
Fly Squash Helmet

Been gone over lots of times and it's as per the above:

My eyes used to stream too,
until i fitted an aero screen.
I only wear a lid now if i am going on the motorway,
i find sunglasses fine for all other blatting activities.

No Windscreen = Full helmet all the time.
You cannot be too safe, and it may only take a large stone thrown up by another vehicle to make you have an accident and do worse injury.
Dont take chances.
If you really MUST wear sunglasses, then get ones with ballistic grade lenses to protect your eyes from Stones and fast bees / wasps etc.
The car is repairable.
Your eyesignt is irreplaceable.
A good while ago I was following a lorry, and stuck between the rear tyres was a brick or brick sized lump of concrete.
It that had come loose it would have killed me, and probably even so in a tin top.
Needless to say I shifted gear damn quick and overtook!
PLEASE DONT TAKE CHANCES with your eyes or general safety.
1. The point of a journey is not to arrive.
2. Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.
Best Regards
Geoff

protect from fast bees
LOL its true, I was having a BBQ once, when my friend was hit by a rare Peruvian Fast Bee. Those things travel at upwards of 80mph. Its true. It
hit him in the head while he was sitting at the table and killed him, stone dead.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
