You've made a classic mistake there... The wheels are too skinny and no suspension?
How can you do 4ft drops on those?

I just bought a boardman team mtb and took it for it's first proper blast this morning, decent bit of kit. Sorry, I know that doesn't
help!
Do you have a spec list for those 2?

Tough choice. I like the white one 
Love the cannondale mtb very nice and good to see they are using proper front suspension forks.
Also only heard good things about the boardman bikes. Think halfords sometimes get things right, e.g advanced tools
I reckon best thing to do is to test ride both bikes if you can. It's amazing how different they can feel, and only one may feel right to
you.

I think you have to ride both to decide. I've noticed big differences in handling and comfort between bikes that look similar and whose spec
sheets read the same.

Dont do push bikes i haven't ridden one for years but if its on looks it has to be the yellow one! Why because its yellow

Did you decide that you needed a triple chainset on the front?
Dont mean to sound condersending but some people buy a bike with a triple because they assume it would be easier to ride. The trend nowadays is to buy
what they call a 'compact' chainset where you have just two chainrings on the front that are slightly smaller than the norm. This gives
you a much more useable range of gears.
Also agree that the boardman bikes look good value.

I've recently had the same problem, I went for a 2010 specialized allez sport. Seems to be very good value for money. only done about 150
miles on it so far but had no problems and its very well finished.

I was going for the triple due to the very steep hills where i live, i just thought the triple would give me a better range of gears.

id vote giant, but saying that youve got two good bikes for your price range, wont go wrong with either
away from cars, now cycling and building TT bikes

knowing nothing about bikes, i'd say the 2nd one.
frame looks better to me. never saw the point in curved tubes in bike frames. don't look as strong to me. but yeah, i know nothing

tough call. bot look like decent bikes with decent comparable components.
not heard anythingbad about specialized but Giant road bikes get compliments too.
curver top tube - fashion - there cannot be any advatange there.
also not a fan of all white cars/bikes so I vote for the Giant.
what sort of gradients are you looking at - 53/39 and 13-23 is enough for me to get up any hill on raod, usaully one gear spare, admittedly down here
althogh there are some steep hills, nothing that is really long and steep. but hey, why not? if you don't like, you can always fit twin crank
- these new fangled comnpact chainsets are therage at the mo.

I have gone for the Spezialized Allez Sport , picked it up last week, fantastic bike very easy to turn the big gears, well chuffed.
