I bought a logitech pure-fi anywhere a few months ago, as I was after a dock for my iPhone. It's a fairly compact little unit with a built in battery (so it's completely portable if required!). The sound is pretty good, and it even comes with a nifty carry case and PSU if you want to chuck it in your bag when travelling. The battery life is pretty good too.

I normally use mine when giving the rowing machine a good thrashing, and it easily drowns out the noise from the C2 machine. I paid £80 from Amazon...

My cousin has got the bose one which is cracking, i wouldnt recomend it or buy one myself becuase they are massively over priced. But it does show what can be done in the space, and also how usfull it is to have a battery functionality.

She takes in on holiday (in its sippy little hard-case thingy) and just throws it down where ever and starts blerting out very well sounding tunes.

Ive not look into it atll and dont even have an iPod (go my trusty iRiver HP140) but on a simular note ive been very impressed with my own antec lansing 2100 speakers in terms of sound quality for a given size/price as well as being build like a brickshhh house. Sisters karmahardon soundsticks are fractionally nicer sounding but theres little in it and they are more fragile. Now i have a proper hifi (walfdale diamond 9.1's with a secondhand cambridge a5 amp) the 2100's get lugged around all over the place, partys, onto the narrowboat, holidays, carshows, in garden, etc.

Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere 2 recommended, battery lasts quite a while and great for holidays or just leaving it out all the time in a room.

The Gear 4 ones look cheap and nasty in comparison, but the Pure-Fi is still pretty bargain-tastic.
