Daughter is going to London

My daughter is going to spend her spring semester studing at University in South Kensington and working as an unpaid intern She will be staying near Middlesex. Are there any areas in London I should tell her where to avoid? She has already said she is not going to pick up any parts for my Locost, darn it! I was hoping for a xflow but it won't fit in her luggage. Thanks and be nice to her. Russ

Could she bring me a microsquirt??

I could supply a xflow in small parts (although the block isn't that small)

Assuming she is staying in or near the Uni, South Ken is a very nice, upmarket area. Pretty much all of central London is ok, tho' obviously all the usual caveats of stick together in groups, particularly late at night or when travelling on the tube would apply.

As with any big city there are always some areas you'd rather avoid, some areas around Neasden & Wembley are pretty rough as are parts of Hackney & Brixton - I'm sure there are lots more other people will mention, but TBH most of it is common sense, if you can see the area you're heading into is getting rougher & rougher then perhaps it's time to turn round & head back or hail a black cab!

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

Which campus Russ? The main Hendon campus is a mile from where we live, so if you want any info let me know.

on a serious note, she should avoid most of the east (E) post codes. Some parts of E1 are OK, but a lot of the others are not as a general rule. (sorry to anyone who lives in Wanstead or Chingford) I have worked in law enforcement throughout the east of london.

I go to Burton's regularly as its on my way home, the shop is nothing special, the catalogue makes it look better than it is. They do some good stuff though.........

A lot of the East end is fine, you just have to be aware, the one thing about London is you need to have your wits about you.
I worked for 13 years in Lambeth, great in the day not so good at night.
If i was going to generalize, i would say avoid Peckam and the Elephant & Castle, Southhall, Brixton, Hackney.
Camden is where my kids go alot and have done, on there own since 16 but you have to be with people and keep sharp.
