Buying Glass and etching
Where can I buy a largish pane of glass? Probably 4 feet by 3 and around quarter of an inch thick? Also how much would something like that cost?
Second, say I wanted to etc a chessboard pattern onto it, how would I be best to do that?
Something like that

I don't know where to buy glass in Glasgow but you will need to get toughened glass with ground edges or it could all end in tears. Or or a
bloodbath!
Etching can be done with a sand blaster and masking off the bits you want to leave clear. Google for the best medium for the finish you want. Practise
on some scrap first so you get the hang of it or you might end up with stripy, uneven etch.

when we've done it in the past we have used the sand technique, however for a small amount there are chemical etchs that you can use, think it
coems in a can. not sure if the chemical route would give you a finer finish.

We buy glass for coffee table tops etc that the kids make from local glaziers-same guys that do the shop windows etc once cut to size and edges
polished it gets sent away to be toughened, takes a couple of weeks all in.
You could use etched glas vinyl on the underside of the glass which is a good substitute for etching, depending on size we could prob cut you the
squares.

Any idea on a ballpark cost Mike?
Ill be in touch about the film, it was my intention to do it on the underside anyway!
