Bullet cam setup

Was wondering if those who use trackday/bullet cams could give me any pointers for best results?

I have a miniDVR3 by dogcam and seem to use excessive sunlight ruining the picture. Any ideas how to get rid of this? The bloke at dogcam said they have tried a little shield but it had a detrimental effect. I've heard of some people using polarising film on the lens, anyone tried this?

Wasn't a particularly cheap bit of kit, but not managing to get great quality from it

speak to your local camera shop, you should be able to buy a filter.

Also the camera lense will bloom out with bright light, have you tried angling it slightly down - ie more looking at the car from a higher point on your cage etc ?

Got the same set up and footage has been fine . But as T66 has said mine has been mounted on the cage facing slightly downwards.

It's been mounted on the top of the roll bar, pretty much horizontal though so I'll try pointing it down. Ordered some polarising film to try on the lens. There's a new firmware download on the dogcam website that is supposed to massively improve the audio too, fingers crossed!

Thinking about it though, alot of light was reflected off the dash... So pointing it down may not work. The dash is shiny carbon, what's yours?

Quality there looks very good!

I take it you have a full cage and cam mounted to the front bar?

On mine the only bar I have to mount to is the roll bar behind me so the camera is between the two seats looking over the aeroscreen but all the light hitting the dash is reflecting back at it. Doh!

Can always use the suction mounts to put it on the car bonnet or side but wanted more of a POV view.

A lot of track days don't allow suction mounts any more.

Have you adjusted the bullet cam to get that view then? With my bullet cam where you say yours is behind the seats I can see the dash and everything! Almost like yours is zoomed in ?
