Machine Shop in Midlands

Not as such car related although it could be, I have a small pump of a steam engine that needs some re-machining work done on it. Im hoping to avoid a full re-bore assuming the ship can measure it accurately enough to determine its condition (with my cheap ebay t-bar and a micrometer im indecisive) but I expect it will need a new piston (circa 45mm dia, 55mm height , hollow, with a set of labyrinth grooves at both ends, nothing complex), and the valves remaching. Its close to something i would tackle myself but we're aiming for around 7 thou clearance on the piston and a few other bits and I really dont have the time.

Thoughts suggestions before i start playing telephone-tag with yellowpages adverts.

Hi,

I have used Victory Engineering based in Daventry before. They have helped me out in the past with various car parts i have wanted restoring etc. The bloke who owns it....cant remember his name, often takes on some really obscure jobs. Traction Engines to Windmill Components. Worth giving them a shout

Victory Engineering - 01327 700111

Say Ed who is building a kit car round the corner from where they are based refereed you to them. He may do you a deal.

Cant go wrong with that.
- Im in Uttoxeter, boats in Cheshire so ideally it would be somewhere in stoke/stafford/nottingham/crewe.
- That said for the sake of another 40minutes in the car to get to somewhere recomended im good for that.
