--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Alex
My name is Andre, and I am from South-Africa. Here we do not have a large following of Locost enthusiasts, and I am looking for ways to promote the
Locost here in SA. If you have no objection, I would like to use a photo of your car on a pamphlet that I intend to hand out here is SA to promote
Locosts. Do you have any objection to this? Please let me know. By the way, I follow your progress with the car on www.locostbuilders.co.uk.
Kind Regards,
Andre du Plessis

I've sent this reply:

Hi Andre,
You follow my PROGRESS with the car?? Greatest thing I've built in my whole life was a turd. I BOUGHT my Locost car.
Did you think it was a smart idea to spam the whole list of members of Locostbuilders by sending each of us the same email? Nice try.
You can indeed use my pics for whatever you want, just put there who's who and it'll be fine. Still I recommend you get in touch with
actual builders, they know the score not me.
Cheers,
Alex
PS: posting your email to the forum so none of us is fooled..

Roger Molyneux built a car a couple of years ago. He was in Cape Town.
He was on the Yahoo group some time ago, maybe he would help?

Email from Andre, followed by my reply.

Hi Alex
I am aware that you bought the Locost from Tom. What I meant was that I
was following the few problems you were having with interrest, as I was
also thinking of buying a used Locost.
I don't know how I could have mailed the mail to the whole forum, and I
asure you that was not my intention. I send the email to
'alex_osiris@hotmail.com', and not to any forum, so I do not understand
how this could reach the whole forum.
I did also post a reply to your post on the Locostbuilders forum. You
are welcome to add this mail also.
Regards
Andre

Hi Andre,
When I read in your first email that you are following my progress, I assumed a few things that are not the case: That you had been sending the same
text to different builders and that.
I would like to apologize for that in the forum so the people who have read the thread already can see how I misunderstood your email.
I'm sorry about my reply yesterday. It's no excuse but I particularly hate spam and I reacted badly.
As I told you yesterday, you are welcome to use any pics or anything you need. It's actually nice of you to ask for permission. Please let me
know if you need anything else.
Good luck with promoting the Locost and sorry again for my reply yesterday.
Regards,
Alex

By the way I'm having a lot of problems to register the car here, they can be summarized as: our applicable regulations are very similar to the
UK ones, BUT the huge difference is that here inspectors are not used to actually applying them (because nobody builds kits or anything). As a result,
people who are supposed to approve my car DON'T KNOW the regulations. It's looking like I may need to keep the UK reg (although I have an
appointment for an interview next week).
Other than that, the car is now perfect, it is as quick as one could wish, it still handles really well with the increased ride height, changing
camber + toe out solved its somehow erratic behaviour during bumps, and I've now fitted a Mac #1 aeroscreen instead of the full windscreen,
which looks so nice in the car.
Cheers,
Alex

Hi Alex
I am relieved. I was quite upset at your reply, but I now realise that I should also have been more clear in my mail. I feel the same way as you do
about spam Just glad that there are no bad feelings I REALLY didn't want enimies on this forum, as I have learned so much from it
already. Thanx for the apology, accepted, respect for that.
Could you maybe send me a pic with the new aeroscreen also, I'd love to see it?
My day is a lot brighter now

Hi Andre,
I'm sorry I upset you. I'm totally embarrased and feeling guilty now for this welcome to the forum. Anyway, quoting Pulp Fiction's
Wolf "Well, let's not start sucking each other's dicks just yet" (That's a good movie.)
I have learned a lot from the forum as well, I've had a very friendly welcome here + so much help. I'm sometimes embarrased for being one
of the very few who don't build. Much worse yet, I actually destroyed Jon's creation I was ashamed to tell the forum.
Still I feel very happy that I'm achieving my goal of learning how to do basic maintenance and solve basic problems with the help of the forum.
It's rewarding because I had done nothing related in the past, and it is good because garages here are expensive and generally bad for your
car.
I haven't yet taken any pics of the car as it is now My plan was to do that asap because it looks nicer now and I'd like to update mi
"webshite". I'll take some of the car only as well (no mad monkey driver posing), they should be more useful to you.
Cheers,
Alex
