OMG I am Moving House

After spending too long where we are now, we are finally moving to a decent street, away from Beirut....

No alcoholics, no scrap men in their transit vans eyeing up my garage contents.....

Exchanged today, after struggling to find an insurer happy to insure us, before we own the property, the solicitors would not exchange without this insurance in place....

So the big off is on friday, a nice garden, conservatory and a ktchen with more than 3 drawers in it, luxury..

Big shed in the planning stage (stepson joiner), pond and some gardening, cannot wait.

Solicitors and moving house is a completely simple process , made really difficult by solicitors. Bunch of tools...

Next time without doubt I will use a conveyancing company -

Did alright,

They had been on the market 2 years and fallen through twice....

Got £25k off their asking price. And as per my surveyor who sold them it 6 years ago, they paid £5K more than I have give them.

Nice one!

Make sure you use the move to de-clutter all and anything surplus, it's quite refreshing IMHO.

note - by declutter that means anything in the house, you DO NOT declutter garages

I rent my current garage, and the new house has one with it, so plans are afoot to build a 10x8 shed at the new house for storage, (shed heaven)

I will strip out the renty garage of the lights and stuff, and will keep it for trailer storage while I build the Fiat up.

We have had really shoddy service from the solicitor, they have already been told I want the bill to reflect that, as I wont be paying their topline.

Other than their incompetance its been fairly stress free, the house is like a midden now, so thats a chew on as we dont know where anything is...

However its nearly Friday.....

And relax

They are ALL like that. Completely F*cking useless, I cant believe the money they get for the absolutely dire service they provide......If you hadnt gathered I am also in the midst of moving! Good to hear you are finally through it like we nearly are.

We complete/exchange whatever this friday hopefully.

Congratulations after such a long journey, hope the move goes well.

Unfortunately, conveyancing works on a 'pile 'em high' basis, don't bet on a conveyancing company being any better, even if it is the only thing they do.

Having the insurance in place for exhchange is standard - the seller isn't obliged to keep insurance in place till completion so if anything went pear-shaped between exchange and completion, you'd be in trouble - if you try to withdraw from the purchase, the seller can sue for completion, even if the property is raised to the ground.

I'll be exchanging and completing on the same day but don't yet have a date so don't know when to have insurance in place for...?!

Anyway, hopefully you won't need to move again any time soon!

While Im not planning on coming out of the new purchase in a box, we will be resident for a good few years, the "kids" are now early/mid twenties, so are only an occassional issue through the week as they live also with girlfriends too. The house is proportionally ok for the two of us to manage. Whether we move again Im not really sure....

We did consider a 4 bed house, but at age 45&49 we dont need one, another £40k for a 7x7 bedroom to put a computer desk isnt rational economics in my maths book.

We even rejected a house with a big drive and double garage (huge with loft space), as the house didnt fit the agreed profile, the street was a bit busy, and too close to where we live now.

Thats why the tv show is called Location,Location,Location, and not Sh1thole,Sh1thole,Sh1thole .....
