A Rarity - Footballer With Class...

Most of you are probably not aware, but it was John Kennedy's testimonial match at Celtic Park tonight. He had just established himself in the Celtic team in 2004 and was given his first Scotland cap. His career was effectively ended in that match when one of the Romanian opposition players smashed his knee with what can only be described as an assault! He was not a big earner when he was injured and he is certainly not a rich young man.

... that's the background!

Kennedy worked hard to get a number of Celtic and Manchester Utd legends and celebrities to play at his testimonial and also for ALL the proceeds to go to the Oxfam East African famine fund.

He got a 60,000 full-house for his farewell and he's raised a shedload of cash for people who he will never meet, but who he knows need the funds FAR MORE than he does.

John Kennedy... I salute you!

A very rare thing indeed.

Well done that man. Sadly how much of what is raised will actually reach its cause in a land so corrupt.

Hopefully a fair whack... Oxfam are probably one of the better charities for turning donations into action.

I think class is inversely proportional to salary.
Thus (from what I understand) he's not played football for 7 years and his class level is over 9000

Bollox; totally forgot this was on, meant to watch it with Jr and talk to him about examples being set ,etc, etc, etc!

I will make sure we find it on I-player or whatever and we will make a donation to the charity of this 'young MAN's' choice!

It beggers belief how this Country can produce such a fine example of a young person while scum are looting in other areas !

Regards
Jon
