Diane Abbott
For those who don't know her... she's a Labour front-bench MP. She's black.
She recently tweeted "white people love playing divide-and-rule".
I have no doubt whatsoever that had a white MP made a similar statement about "black people", then they would have been sacked the minute
it hit the news.
Will she!?

There is so much one could say about that but really it's just so disappointing - even more so if she isn't punished for it.

TBH, I'm not particularly offended by what she said... in fact, I'd prefer it if more folk occupying positions of powers spoke their mind
so we could find out exactly what they're all about.
What actually bothers me here is the obvious imbalance to 'societal rules'. One group of people are allowed to say things that another
group of people can't. It's utter bollox and doing my nut in!

Already posted my thoughts to Toby Young's article in the D.Telegraph this a.m.
Along the lines of "Fat, sweaty, bigoted, stupid, racist, socialist hypocrite." Strong message to follow---and I didn't mention the

Seconded.
And she would have been the first in line to comment and demand a resignation!

I read about it earlier, couldn't finish the article I was that disgusted.
I think back to the days I was in the airforce, I was called Taff, Welshy etc, by todays standards shouldnt I be going back and sueing everyone. Not
that I would want to.
Kids cant even sing baa baa black sheep in schools anymore what an absolute shambles our society has become.
But if this political correctness is how society is now operating she should be picking up her P45 about now........I doubt she will be though.
I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.

Unfortunately discrimination only works one way, in the UK, that is only the majority can be accused of discrimination against the minority,
unfortunately it doesnt cut it the other way...
and I agree there would have been uproar if anyone had said it the other way around, look at the fuss a few years ago with that gobby big brother
contentant and Shilpa Shelty.....

This latest, in a long line of gaffes exposes Abbott's unsuitability to be a representative of the people,
or to be in a position of influence.
There's no doubt that the woman has made a career of the fact that she was born black.
She is a vacuuous, stupid condescending hypocrite, so is ideally qualified to be a labour M.P.
There is something horribly wrong with British society, when we see racism as a one-way ticket.
The Lawrence affair was dreadfully badly (dishonestly?) handled by the Met, of that, there's no doubt.
The justice meted out to the two perpetrators was well deserved, and I for one hope the rest involved
are indicted and tried.
What I find objectionable it that supposedly sane people are blogging that since 'blacks' get away with
all kinds of nefarious activity by (in no small measure), playing the 'race card', then Dobson and Norris
were unfaily treated in being persued as they were. Some commentators even bad-mouthed the repeal
of the double jeapardy law, when it's been a proven force for good in the fight against wrong-doers
and career criminals.
All criminals, regardless of colour should be persued and punished. The inordinate publicity, manpower,
incompetence and injustice on display in the Lawrence case is an example of what happens when we get it wrong.
Unless 'colour prejudice' (racism) works both ways, we'll end up with handing the keys of asylum to the
lunatics. The likes of Abbott will be vying for the position of 'chief inmate.'

are you all idiots.
you do know that racism is one way just white to black.
There is no such thing as racism from black to white.
This is clear when you look at average sentences of white people assaulting black people is hugely longer time in jail then the opposite.
Its a shame really as I wont tollerate any racism in my work from any of my staff no matter the colour, race or anything......

You obviously didn't watch Strictly this year
Read the whole tweet. The ironic thing is that she was critisizing the press for grouping the "black community" together but in doing so
talk about the "white community" and so did the thing she was so critical of. She tweeted "White people love playing 'divide
& rule' We should not play their game". By doing which she did start playing "their game" which I actually believe
isn't played, except now by her.
Doh!
Anyway, people confuse racism with discrimination against a minority. Racism is a two way street. Discrimination against a minority clearly can only
be one way.
What she's really done of course is what people have done for a long time. People who feel they are being discriminated against are often
discriminatory themselves. E.g. quite a lot of rabid feminisits are extremely sexist on the grounds of feeling sexually discriminated.
So the best thing to do to prevent falling into the trap she has is to ignore her. Peace out

I think anyone who needs an imaginary entity to justify their decision making needs to evaluate their existence. How did the thread get from colour to
religion in such a short space?

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

"white people love playing divide-and-rule" and "I understand people have interpreted my comments as making generalisations about
white people. I do not believe in doing that"
..........................two very impressive comments from someone who is a role model in a very influential position of authority.

There is obviously a big difference between what she says and what her statement writing advisers normally pump out into the press.
I can't see that anybody with a level head (not politically biased in the black/white issue) would see anything constructive in the bilge that
this individual pumps out.
