Fed of Small Businesses
We have a FSB rep coming round for a chat tomorrow, following a cold call. Given the number of members I think they must be doing something right,
hence I'm giving them the chance.
So, my question is, are they? Any small business owners on here who have something to say about them (good/bad/indifferent) would be appreciated.
Thanks very much
ATB

No idea but as a small business owner, I'd be interested in your view on it after your chat.

isnt it more of a network that you sign up to? Useful if you are looking to diversify or need more contacts, but i wouldnt expect too much to come to
your door from the membership.
Kindest Regards,
Richard.

We are members, have used the free legal advice a few times which is instant over the phone, use there employment contract and other legal templates
also. Got discounted insurance both liability & employers you also get access to many other discounts that are not available to Joe bloggs
plc....free business banking for life been an example while ever your a member.
I think the safety net of full representation for any tax investigation (not that we anticipate one) is probably worth the fee ?
All in for the fee I don't begrudge paying it.
I was once told think of it as a union for business owners, that pretty much sums it up really.

Been a member for about 5 years, no down side as far as i can see, although i can get cheaper insurance elsewhere.
Keep promising to switch to their free business banking, but not got round to it yet.

pretty good for the money
i was a member for 5 years and the legal advice is great,
if you get a tax investigation (which we did) they will back you to the hilt.
which is worthwhile on its own.
believe me if you get a tax investigation the tax man wants a piece ofyou even if you have everything in order
i must rejoin!!

Cheers Chaps. Joined up today. Appears my old man used to be a member but cancelled as he never used their facilities - suspect he didn't
appreciate all the benefits.
Will be using contract templates etc; just hope not to deal with tax insp. Sounds like a nightmare.

I had a tax investigation last year. Fortunately nothing to worry about because there was nothing dishonest in it, but i found it quite lax to be
honest! They never even checked if i had other bank accounts, made silly mistakes like not realising i was VAT registered, and i only found out last
month (from a friend) that none of my invoices were actually legal! Did try shafting me on a few issues (subbies werent CIS registered), but i argued
it out and havent heard back in about 8 months now.
However, i imagine a VAT investigation would be seriously bad news, if past correspondance is anything to go by. They really are a bunch of robbing
malicious c**ts.
