What radiator for BEC Hayabusa ?
Hi guys could you tell me what radiators you guys are using with your hayabusa engines ?

I've got the one mk supplied. I think it's either a mk1 or mk2 escort one.

Andy Bates is firmly of the opinion that a billet sump with swing-arm pickup wasn't designed for 'universal' use. ie It was
specifically designed for straight-line acceleration a-la dragster use. Consequently, there are circumstances under heavy 'g'-loading
(right handers from memory) that the sump, even with swing-arm, won't cut the mustard and oil-pressure can fall catastrophically.
That said, I think Danny races with the swing arm setup and depending on who you listen to it works for him, with MK even going so far as to denounce
the dry-sump route.
Not being a 'techie' but having read around the subject a fair bit (noc in Ireland, Andy Bates, MK, Custardpants etc etc) I'd say if
you're going to wring the car's neck and track/hill-climb it, then the consensus would appear to favour the dry-sump route, though
it's by no means unanimous.
I went for billet sump/swing arm and had an oil pressure gauge fitted directly in my sight-line so I can watch it like a hawk, (as AB advised).

Have you even noticed any drop in pressure with that setup Bob?

yeah, ive been in contact with andy and he was superbly helpful. told me of all the possible pitfalls etc. but others say no need for road use.
also with the swinging pickup set up designed for the bike doing hard accellareation would it not swing sideways in a car set up due to the engine
being at 90 degrees?

At startup Dave and tootling to warm the engine up, (sub 5000rpm), I get 5.5 bar.
Once warmed up and 6k rpm, I get 4 bar plus, however, at lower revs, I can see it drop to 2.5 bar, (approaching roundabouts etc).
All in all, the gauge is a 'peace-of-mind' thing, which I watch as closely as the rev-counter. (I 'scan' continuously as old
habits die hard---ex-aircrew).
