diesel gen set

my neighbour has an 8kw diesel gen set
the gen has suddenly stopped working..

anyone have any experience on these ? i used to work on a lot bigger stuff, and they are not the same!!

does not appear to be any slip rings, but there are 2 diodes on the shaft (that check out ok), and 2 other 'things' (blobs of plastic with wires

cant find any regulator circuit, and only 4 wires which come out of the main windings, which is 110/240

no makers marks on the set at all ;-(

I'd love to give my imaginary friend a great big hug,

but this jacket makes it impossible.

Any pictures? Is it (outputs) controlled by a main controller? How old is it? How many hours run? Does the engine have a controller as well? Is it outside? Is it an actuated variable throttle unit?

Loads of potentials.

Could be a sensor failure such as thermocouples, VT's, CT's or engine sensors. I take it youve checked the usuals; oil filters, oil, any leaks, and fuel filters etc?

Kindest Regards,

Small units like that use capacitance automatic voltage regulators
Engine speed must be set to 1500rpm usually
I'm only in Bedford I'm happy to take a look
