wholesale Buying
Hi Guys,
I need some help (knowledge) from the business owners out there/on here.
a friend and i were looking today at potentially bulk buying "Clif Bars" (energy bars basically), used by a lot by cyclists, rock
climbers, swimmers, runners, you name it for sustaining energy levels during endurance activities. he is an avid triathlete and i am looking to start
some endurance training for personal fitness gains and improvements. i have tried one and they are very nice and give you a great burst of energy
(over about an hour)
So to my question, although i don't own my own company, so therefore do not have a VAT number to claim back VAT through a company, how do i go
about sourcing a reputable supplier to supply us with a large quantity of bars (they will be for training groups etc not just the two of us, so maybe
looking to by 100-500 bars at a time depending on demand.
to buy in the shops i have seen them vary in price from £1.50-£2.50 each, but most places i have seen at the moment, you can buy 12 bars (a box) for
£15.
the company that produces these is american so i would imagine i would need to get in contact with a company that imports them in to the uk? they are
mainly sold in bike shops/hiking shops/activity outlets etc
An idea's, hints and tips would help, im just "spit balling" as i type
I love Pinto's, even if i did get mine from P&O!

I'd just go straight to source. That should logically be the best deal. If they wont deal in the sort of quantity you want to take then they
will almost certainly give you the right contact at one of their customers who will deal with you. Start at the top and work down. The Americans have
a very direct and simple way of doing business. That has been my experience at least.
Let us know how you get on.

Talk to Nick Gracie at www.powerthemachine.com.
He imports them and will give a decent discount for bulk buys. He's a former World Champion adventure racer and knows his stuff.
100-500 bars at a time isn't that big an order however, so don't expect them to be half retail price!
