Very (?) old gas fire, worth owt?

Strange question - anyone know anything about old gas fires? This has come out of our house we are renovating, lots of people commented on it when shown round, its quite unusual and I cant find much like it on the web (just the usual square 80s 'grandma' gas fires lol).

I assume it must be one of the first type of domestic gas fires?

Its kinda retro looking, if cleaned up could make a nice feature in the right room, reckon its worth anything? Its styling says to me 1950's?
Seems a shame to just scrap it. Obviously its not suitable for actual use.....god forbid lol.

+1. As nice as it might be for someones retro room, i wouldnt use it, and would disable it if selling.

As with most stuff like that it's probably worth a lot to someone who's looking for a retro fire for their house.

But as others have said if selling I would put a massive disclaimer on it and maybe get whoever buys it to sign something to remove responsibility from you for it's working condition, especially with the rise of ambulance chasing solicitors in the UK now.

I would maybe wait until there is a free listing day on ebay and then put it on at a highish price and see if you get any bites

Cheers guys.

No idea on the jets - as I said its not suitable for use, you'd have to be a complete idiot to even contemplate it. But no doubt some plonker might have a go.

Its just one of those things - too unusual/interesting to just scrap really and as Chris said would suit someones retro themed room. However finding that person is probably more hastle than its worth.

as everything 'gas' has to be gas-safe fitted I dont see how anyone could come back to you for liability...

worth a punt on ebay on a free listing day I reckon
