Consumer units

A question for all you electricians out there - will all mcb's fit in any consumer unit or do you have to buy the same brand as the unit.

As above, but I waited until this morning before I replied.

All modern Consumer Units accept DIN rail mounted MCBs and all modern MCBs mount on DIN rails.
HOWEVER, different manufacturers then use all sorts of different dimensions for every other part of the MCBs.
If you know the make and type of the Unit and the make and type of the MCB someone may be able to tell you if they are compatible.

(Also be careful if the installation is to be inspected and signed off by a third party, some will object to a mix of manufacturers inside a Unit).

Regards
Jon
