The most boring ad ever...

Just seen this on the BBC website, a link to the most boring ad;

http://vimeo.com/92073118

But for some reason I couldn't stop watching... It reminds me of those epic build diaries that take hours out of your life but the end result is a work of art.

It's not really an advert though is it? Advert's aren't 45 minutes long and no company in their right mind could afford such a running time anyway.

You could run a 45 second version of that on TV and that would be a perfect advert that shows the attention to detail without being boring.

Why are the BBC providing free advertising for that company!? Clever tactic on the manufacturers part though!

And if they really hand finish each camera body like that I will eat my hat!

£1,350 apparently for that particular camera... and double that price if you want a lens. That's a lot of labour in there.

I don't buy it. It's a mass produced item. Looks like it's milled on a decent machine you'd then finish them in batches using heat treatments and chemical dips.....

Assembly may be semi automated....

I did some work for Olympus a while ago for the contractor manufacturing camera bodies for thermal imaging cameras costing £30k each. The milled finish on the body was incredible and no hand finishing was done atall....
