Help Relay problem
Hi
Got a problem with a Siemens Relay part number 90459642 does anyone know where i could get 1 for sunday i'm supposed to be going to cars in the
park at Newby Hall but the car won't start without it, there's a few on ebay but won't be here in time, absolutely no good with
wiring so no idea if there's anyway to bypass this, any ideas/suggestions would be gratefully recieved...

Looks like a std 30A relay to me. Halfords, maplins etc should all keep them.
However, the pics I found make it look like one terminal is extra big, but a normal relay may well still fit, difficult to tell.

Apparently it's a Saab / GM fuel pump relay. Any decent autofactors should be able to sell you one.....
Always biting off more than I can chew.....

Just rung round all motor factors in York where I am but they said it's obsolete now and they don't do them anymore,

By the pin arrangement it looks like a change over relay sometimes fuel pump relays have built in resistor or diode.

Thanks for your replies guy's, I managed to find 1 at Bristol Street motors, unfortunately I've fitted it and still doesn't start,
aaarrrgghhhhhh... try and find an auto electrician in York now.....!!

just dead, checked battery and all wiring to starter everything seems to be fine that's what made me think it was the relay, but like I said I
no absolutely nothing about wiring... Also if I bump it off it runs absolutely fine....!!

Clutch Switch?
Key Barrel switch?
Broken connection/Cable?
Bad earth?
Is the relay energizing?
if not maybe wiring/Starting switch issue.
Hot wire the MF...

So the car runs fine, just won't start?
How about starter solenoid?
The inertia switch is fitted inline (usually just to the fuel pump) so it shuts off after a heavy impact, obvious reasons. With an electric pump it
should have one. Really, if it hasn't, I would be putting one in.

Yeh car runs great once started, can I test the solenoid.? Although it's only a few months old.
I'll check again for inertia switch maybe it's near the pump it's self..

Perhaps I have the wrong end of the stick. .. but if it runs ok... it's none of the inertia / fuel switches etc. it can only be a start problem.
I would take a stick and give the starter a sharp tap to ensure it's not a stuck bendix. If that doesn't work, then a thick 12v feed
taken direct to the solonoid will check that. If that works then follow back the wiring from the key switch...

Yeh starter solenoid was at fault all along by the looks of it, give it a clout and she fired up straight away what a plonker...lol
