Who uses anti-virus on their smartphone?

Who uses anti-virus protection on their smart phone?

If you do use one, which one and what does it cost you?

Thanks,
Nick

Its built in isnt it? Didnt think they were vulnerable to it.

Only thing is to be aware of phishing, and that's more to do with the user suppyling information, rather than it being hacked.

I'd assumed it was built in as well, but wasn't sure so thought I'd ask the question!

I've never been bombarded with adverts for it so perhaps it's not available as an add-on item.

It's not built in, they're just heavily locked down so it's very hard to attack (unless you're a muppet and install unverified software from various places).

I ran AVG for 2 years and it found nothing and irritated me a lot, so I removed it and have never had an issue.

I work as a cyber security consultant so it's my world. On android phones its more needed than iPhone but that doesn't mean that an iPhone couldn't be hacked.

Making sure you don't open dodgy emails and using 3rd party software will reduce the risk.

I use a secure operating system. To reduce the risk.

The issue these days is a hacked phone can mess up most peoples world with banking apps and email and phone all on one device meaning they can do so much.

I don't use Antivirus on my phone and I also don't watch or download anything dodgy on it.

Hope this is useful. Info

interesting my wife said to me the other morning (she does not do technology well) "my phone wants me to update/load Sophos and I refused it"
My response was I didn't think it even existed for phones
Is there something going around?

I've worked with a company who tested sophos for the av test and it did well. There are many malware outbreaks for android phones that said recently the play store had to remove hundreds of apps which had been infected. So they are doing a lot of testing.

Don't download untrusted apps. Keep your phone firmware up to date. And don't download files you don't trust from untrusted parties.

If her phone has sophos like some new phones have then only update from the store and of its asking. You to install unsigned apps then don't.

Thought it's built in knowing how everyone uses phones nowadays.

have a look at your bank/insurance/internet provider. one of them probably gives you free security software for your phone.
