CAD Font or Symbols
Hello All,
Not sure what I'm needing is actually called, what I need to do is laser cut into several jigs a company name and what it's for, so it is
not lost in hundreds of other jigs at the fabricators.
I'm assuming it is a CAD library of some sort and the big news is I'm willing to pay for it!
Cheers
David

Do you want the stencil made to be able to paint through?

Does it need to be in metal? Oli at Furore Products can produce stencils fairly cheaply in plastic - 3D printed?
I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator
headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names
furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours.

Sorry the word stencil is not the correct word.
All I want to do is cut the text into metal plate jigs used to fabricate parts, I could paint letters on but I was after a more professional durable
job

Could you not simply freehand weld the company name onto the jigs?

You could try giving https://www.lasermaster.co.uk/ a call
I had them cut me a ITG filter back plate. Cost as much as a blank plate from ITG but I had all the holes cut in the offset position I wanted.
Probably best to call them to discuss, but i think its the sort of thing they'd do.

My favourite one is to use Rhino: https://www.rhino3d.com/download (free trial for 45 days per PC)
It makes 2D or 3D CAD objects out of nearly any font on your PC/mac - just press the text button, type and pick the options/size you want
Then you can just add the little connector bits however you like to make them into stencils if need be
Rhino is really good at exporting to dxf/dwg formats (the ones most laser/waterjet cutting places want), but also capable opening and saving to an
impressive number of other CAD formats too.
If you like you can send me a u2u with your email and the text/font you want and I'll send you a CAD file back
or alternatively one of the guys I work with uses Inkscape instead - this can also export test CAD objects (although I've never used it
myself)

There is free software available that convert fonts to dxf.
Forgot the one I used.

I need text/fonts that can be modified if required in a cad format like dxf. Normal fonts , including stencil fonts are typically tiff files, no good
to me in in my CAD program
