Repairing a .MOV file (corrupt headers)
You pay for what you get these days. I paid £33 for a cheap action cam and it has provided me with a load of corrupt files!
After trying to open the files in various video players, converting the files etc it seems the headers are the problem. This was proven so by using a
trial version of Kernal Video Repair which takes a 'good' file header and stitches it onto the bad one. This proved that it worked but
only allowed me to preview 30sec of the 20min video.
As always, these types of software cost the earth for 1 year and I would trust them with my CC details anyway.
has anyone else solved this sort of problem? These are massive 3Gb files so a pain to share around otherwise I would stick them on here for someone to
fiddle with.

Will VLC play them? Usually VLC will create a temporary index to play corrupt video if the actual stream is complete.
If it will you can convert & save them to another format which should negate the dodgy headers.

I tried VLC.
I tried dropping the .MOV in and changing to AVI and dropping in. I have also turned on the MKV fix setting so auto. It didn't work.

There's an excellent bit of free software called Handbrake, powerful, but quite a steep learning curve. Very good for converting video files
of all formats.

I've used VirtualDub and videoPad, not sure which one will be the best for you. I've recovered a few files, although not necessarily a
.mov.
