Unlocking mobile phones
I have just bought a second hand phone which is locked to T-mobile (without the simcard) I would like to keep my current 02 sim so as not to have to
change all of the numbers across. How much will it cost to have it unlocked from T-mobile. Its a nokia, can't remember which!
I have noticed a couple of websites advertising between 3-5 quid to do it. Are these reliable or not?
Cheers,
Andy.

Most nokia's easier to unlock than the others. General prices to unlock phones vary from £15 up try a seach for whatever the Nokia model you
have, should throw sumfink !

Mango: thanks for that link. I went onto the swedish site but have a little problem not knowing exactly which T-mobile network it is locked to, as
there are 4 apparently!
I may just bite the bullet and stump up the 15 quid to get it unlocked.

http://unlock.nokiafree.org/ and if that doesn't work, there's plenty more if you google it. Bear
in mind you only have 5 attempts before it has to be done with a cable at a dealers.

I can vouch that the above works, a colleague of mine used Unlock.nokiafree.org to unlock his Nokia 6100. Worked a treat and up and running in the
time it took to put in the PUK(?) number then type in the unlock code.

It also looks like if you
download the
Nokiafree application rather than use the online number generator, it will also unlock various other makes as well as Nokia

I'm trying the nokiafree link above. When filling in the boxes I came to
'GEN:'
with the options : original, v1, v2, new griffin, etc..
What are these and which one is it most likely to be? (phone is a 3510i)
And also is it dct3 or 4? If it is dct3, which i have a hunch it isn't, what is the GID1?
Thanks a lot,
Andy

Good question - what I did was find a phone forum and found the answer there - can't remember for the life of me what it was though.

i got my moto v300 unlocked today. quotes on the net needed special cables or codes, and were between 16 and 35 quid.
took it to a little phone shop locally. they connected it to a little box, pressed a button, and 30 secs and 10 quid later, it was done
