Does anyone know Duttons?

I've just seen this on t'ebay and it got me thinking.

Call me mad but I quite like the 70's styling and the side profile.

I know Duttons have a terrible reputation, but presumably the engineering behind (or underneath) them must be sound to have sold so many? I mean do they handle OK, or could they be made to handle with new springs / shocks and modern tyres?

It's got a 2ltr Pinto on board at the moment, but would it take more power, say a 2 ltr zetec or something even bigger, maybes with a turbo?

Can you tell I am looking for a new winter project?

Anyway Link Here

its a VERY rare Cantera, only 6 were ever made and thats 1 of only 4 known still going.

Its a Dutton malaga/b+ (which is roughly a phaeton series 1 & 2) chassis underneath so will accept a variety of different engine's and drivetrains.

Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a
car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes
and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.

Triumph Herald / Spitfire front suspension. Ford Cortina MkI or II rear axle with 4 link arrangement and Lotus 7 rear coil spring/shock absorber unit, later replaced with Hillman Imp front units. Is this right Mr G ??

Cheers Guys,

Mike R, that's exactly what I saw, a shortened Capri!

Thanks for the responses, but as its so rare, I think I'd better leave it alone. People might get upset if I started messing around with it.
