channel 4 tonight
did anyone see the program on restoring a 3 wheeled morgan?
what a bunch of walleys.
They had to remove screws that were holding a body panel on since 1931. Could you believe they were seized? So they said we will grind em out. You
shag the panel I thought. They came up with the top ground breaking idea of drilling em out.
"thatll be a problem when we put a new panel on - we might hit the old screws they said"
We were then treated to the biggest ever bout of TV incompetence as we witnessed theur cries and dispair as each time they drilled a hole for the new
panel, they hit the remnants of the old screw.
"This is a disaster" they cried. Yer friggin idiots I cried back.
Channel 4, if they could have afforded a pencil, could have offered up the panel and marked the existing positions, but that would not have made crap
tv.
I loved the bit when they brush painted the car. Perhaps its original, but by a trio of chanel 4 morons rather than morgan specialists.
rant over.

oh yeah - i forgot.
then there was the bit they tried to unscrew the bezel off the newly reconditoned irreplaceable speedo cos it wouldnt fit the dash hole. File out the
dash hole I said. Grip it in oil filter wrench they said.
Nearly wrecked it, and said "well, its a bodge, but we will file out the hole".
They didnt think cramming self tappers at an angle past the panel holes they drilled over an old screw was a bodge tho.....

mmmmm.......that program is bodgetastic - you don't rewire a car with those shitty lego block screw in connectors for a start, AND someone who is an
'experienced' vehicle restorer shouldn't be THAT amazed by the process of powder coating (I know it's TV but!) - and why they were powder coating
classic Morgan wire wheels in the first place is a mystery to me - I hope they were/are still round........... mind you you can tell the quality of
his work from the water mill program when he polished the shaft on the bag lift without any reference to the bearing shells. Engine expert my arse.

I watched it and giggled as well.
Especially when he dropped one of the push rod caps into the engine and then proceeded to strip it down to retrieve.
Didn't occur to him to turn the engine upside down and see if it would fall out!
Anyway all he was going to do was take off the heads and that constituted a rebuild!
Surely if it had stood that long you would want to check the mains?
Why did they remove perfectly good body panels and scrap them anyway?
I always thought a restoration was to keep as much of the original material as possible!

If I ever decide to get something restored by those morons, please take me away and beat me senseless until I'm feeling better...
1. The woodscrews - there are several ways to shift a stuck woodscrew before resorting to the electric drill (like touching the head with a length of
red-hot iron bar, for a start!)
2. The paint job - some etch primer might be a good start.
Mind you, the 78-year-old biddy was impressive, riding around on a hefty old Norton bike! Still don't know how she's going to crank a 1000cc JAP
twin tho'. Heart attack job, I think...

Garbage squad?
If you watch the first 10 minutes, leave the room for the next half hour then come back and watch the end it's half bearable.
Is it our telly or has that Suggs got a f*%$king big head?
yours, Pete.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

What you watching that crap for ?
Thunder Races is much more "locosty" (yay, I made a new word !) its on Discovery, 3 team have 24hrs/2 days to do whatever the challenge is this
week.
Check out John Beardmores site, he was in a 3 man team that had to install a >2litre engine in a <1 litre car.
There was a fiesta with 2.9 V6 and Sierra running gear, a Rv8 Micra and (most impressive) a 2 litre Saab front end welded into the rear of an Uno.
http://www.beardmorebros.co.uk/website%20pages/thunder-races.htm
Check out the rest of the site too, especially his newest project.
