Which Kit Car Magazine Do You Read?
So, after the "friendly" dispute that arose over my thread on Sunday, I started thinking about the mudslinging that goes on in the Kit Car
printed press. Particularly between Which KitCar and KitCar and who's the best, who's sells the most, who's repeated the most
ads.... Like I could care! All I want is a good read and a chance to pick up some useful information on building a kitcar. I don't really care
about all the rest.
So, let's hear it then. The first, totally impartial poll on who reads what.
"I think I'm going to regret this......."

as a general rule, they've all got steadily worse. i had a which kit subscription that ended in december. i didn't renew it as the only
draw when the sub was taken out was ian stent and detail dean's kit tips. when ian brown replaced them, i gave up.
i hear total kit car is probably the best, but is only quarterly. there website has done me well in the past anyway.
i now have a practical performance car subscription. i can't put it down for 3 days after it drops on the mat. not specifically kit car, but
pure petrol head. real technical articles, and brilliant how to's. it gets a bid thumbs up from me!

None. Had enough of the slagging off between the two older rags and I've never seen TotalKitCar on the shelves to purchase - and I have been
keeping an eye out for it, but am not keen enough to order it in.

For a decent read, I tend to buy PPC or one of the mags aimed at "classic" cars.

I used to read them when I was building but found that most changed from helpful articles to lots of adverts which is a shame.
I have found Track & Race Cars to be good and also Pratical Performance Car.

Yeah PPC seems to be the Daddy at the moment as it covers kits and most other types of car interest plus great workshop features.
I do like Total kit car mag and it's going to be bi monthly instead of quartely...YAY!
You can stuff the others............although saying that i do still buy them on occasion.

picked up which KitCar Mag the once about three months back shall nevere buy again
it was basically a book for the Ed to tell how good he is and not stop childish paragraphs about his competition or something
and to top it off every 5 pages out of 6 were adverts flaming terrible
yet he was convinced his mag was a best seller
PPC I got the once that was ok
Ive seen better but then those better have changed tro crap over time

Kit car magazines - none. although to be fair, I've never seen Total Kit Car on a shelf to try it.
Sometimes buy PPC, Retro or Track and Race Cars. These are more my type of thing as the kit car mags have a totally unconcealed agenda and I
won't be financing it.

Cosworth-powered Mk I Escort
I've also read Retro Cars a couple of times and unfortunately Track and Race Cars but the writing is appalling.
PPC is what CCC was like 20 years ago before they starting testing too many new cars.

I buy PPC when i see it in the shops and agree it is like CCC was years ago when i first got into performance cars, but have to think even it is not
as good as it was a year ago.They have yet to get a car running with megasquirt and homemade throttle bodies and stated in the recent edition that it
is not worth the effort of building your own throttle bodies now that bike ones are available.Bike ones were easily available when they started the
project and actually cost more nowadays than they did 18 months ago. It seems they are going higher budget and more advertising orientated and dont
really see the point of a track day Rolls.
All the kit mags are now a waste of time as they never have an unbiased roadtest, years ago they used to say if a car was crap but they now like
every one they test fro some reason .

None again,but in saying that Ive never seen total kitcar or PPC on any of the newstands in which case I'd probably try a copy.

Yup, have to agree, Kit car mags are a waste of time. It's PPC or Practical Classics for me every time.
PS anyone remember Auto Performance, before CCC bought them out?

I also vote for Practical Classics - I don't get it all the time, only when there's an article I want, but I still have a few things in my
'Locost might be useful' file. These include how to change wheel bearings and how to overhaul steering racks, both of which have proved
very useful to me.

PPC and Practical Clasics for me too, we recentley had this debate on the tigerownersclub forum with the same result, seems not many of us by the mags
once we are building, not enough technical content just reviews and if your building already why do you need reviews? And as for al the nonsense the
top 2 print bitching at each other....nough said!

PPC for me when theres something of interest (most issues) and when i can find it (not often).
Other than that, its not Car related mags
