turboing a pinto

hi there guys,

just a bit of a curiosity thing really, but what turbochargers can you use for a pinto engine, could you use something like a garrett T25/T35, or could you use one of the escort rs turbo chargers-stage 1,

would it be possible to run a turbo charger on a twin carb'd engine with the right pinto turbo inlet manifold, and the right plumbing?

ive seen some turbo'd pinto's and they look awesome, im just thinking that they must go like s**t of a shovel!

would you have to mod the exhaust manifold when installing a turbo charger?

ATB Alex

I love Pinto's, even if i did get mine from P&O!

I believe you can use ANY turbo - as long as you adapt the manifold for it to bolt to.

The Garrets are standard Ford fitment T2, T25 and T35 - so probably easier to stick to one of those. I'm sure you could pick a manifold up cheap.

You'll need the actuator, ammal valve etc - knock sensor etc - not sure how to wire that in - might be easier to 'Throttle Body' and MegaSquirt - gotta be great then

Good luck - saw a Cossie Westfield at Bedford - sounded ace and went like a rocket!

If you believe you're not crazy, whilst everybody is telling you, you are - then they are definitely wrong!

The simplest setup would be turbo manifold and single carb.
