Patio Layout / plan ????
Bit of a strange request but here goes :
Looking at laying some patio slabs & my dad wants to use 3 different size slabs, 600x600 - 600x300 - 300x300.
Does anyone know where to find a plan for these type of slabs ?? we are looking for a sort of random layout but my brain is too logical &
everything i draw ends up looking like a repeated pattern
Or does anyone have a photo of a patio like this as that would help us draw something up so that we know how many of each size slabs to order
Cheers......Andy

Any help?
HERE
Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a
car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes
and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.

You know t'internet never ceases to amaze me.
How someone can come onto a car forum and ask about random slab layouts only to get pointed to a site which does just that.
God bless LocostBuilders.

Thatchams, (paving makers), also do a leaflet that gives various layouts. Should be able to pick one up at your local builders merchants. ATB Ray

Brilliant, I reckon that someone on this forum would know the answer to the universe.

If it helps, me and my mate were tasked with a similar mission for my parents! In fact using the same sized paving slabs as you are. My mum likes
rustic so it had to be random looking complete with holes for plants, little cobbled bits, house bricks and wobbly edges (to be eventually blended in
by green growing stuff).
We bought some slabs then made a scale model on graph paper with bits of paper cut out to represent the slabs we's bought. I placed the full
600x600 slabs first in a uniform distribution so as not to use them all up in half the patio, then basically filled in the gaps with the smaller
slabs. The 600x300s are good for breaking up long lines. You cant do it totally random and avoid all lines with these as they're all the same
size, or multiple of. If you had a 2" stagger say, you'd have to have that the whole length of the patio giving one long line, for example.
That is unless you dont mind holes.
Anyway - here's a couple of photos - hope it helps.

P.S. I take it you are only after art direction and know how to lay a nice patio - weed-proof membrane, thick layer of sand etc etc etc

if you really want random, try getting hold of some 450x450 and 450x600 too.
we did one last summer, and it was a real pig but looked really good, finished. it would have been a hell of a lot easier to break up the lines had we
had 450x300, but at the time they weren't available.
to plan it, use excel. set the cells to roughly square, then fill with different colours. you can then see if there is too much of one colour in a
given area, and adjust it to suit. print it off a couple of times for on site, then count the slabs and get your order in.
