Anyone an MG Owner?
I have spotted a really nice looking MGB Coupe, in dark blue, with all the right chrome and deep dish minilite wheels. (It's a chrome bumper
model).
Problem is it's been sat still for nearly a month on the side of a main road. During the day it's not obvious as loads of people park up
alongside it. But at night it's the only car there. Tyres have gone down now and it's looking likely to become a target for the local
thugs. Someone's already tried to rip the back number plate off.
Before some little shite smashes it up is there anything I can do to save this classic? Anyone post on MGOC? Obviously I don't want to post
the exact location but you can guess it's in the North East!
I thought about contacting the local plod, but I don't know / want to get the owner in trouble.
Any advice greatfully received.

I would inform the Police, if it's stolen the owner might get it back in one piece.
Is it taxed?,
If it all checks out by the Police , there might be a missing person.
Whatever , you cant really just take it and restore it.

Thanks, I'm not for one minute talking about uplifting it from it's current position / owner.
I just don't want a bunch of wankers smashing the windows, denting the panels on someone's pride and joy.
I'll take a closer look tonight and contact the police in the morning.

No it's a waste , even when a car has those Police aware posters on it , they leave it there so long it gets wrecked by mindless morons!

personally if it were me i would inform the police, and move it myself as if it was my car i'd be happy that someone looked after my pride and
joy for me, i doubt the police or council would be bothered as long as they knew where it was.

To Be frank, I don't think the police consider the 'pride & joy' aspect of motoring, be it a Seven style car or a classic. I had
bought & paid for a Gilbern Invader as a resto project & it was lifted by persons unknown before I could arrange to get it transported back to
my place. When I reported it missing, I felt the attitude was 'why are you bothering with that wreck'. I'm afraid I left thinking
they weren't taking it seriously at all & that their limited resources would be better spent elsewhere. Probably on the CC's new car!

You could inform the police (in writing with a signed duplicate from duty officer in your possession) of it's reg no, where it was etc and that
because you are concerned about it, you are moving it to your property for secure keeping.
Make sure you are not going to be liable for any damage to it!

Ring up a salvage yard (not a breakers), they'll recover it and locate the insurers (if it is/was insured!). They get the recovery storage
charges meantime (not insignificant BTW). Whilst that is happening apply for the reg docs to DVLA. If the owner wants to keep it he/she will own up,
otherwise the car will be yours, if you pay the storage/recovery. If in the event it is still insured the insurers will try to get the owner to show
up. As it sounds like the owner is AWOL or cashless - in which case they will settle with the salvage bods and sell it to them. In which case
you'd have to deal with the salvage yard. Main point is the car is removed to somewhere safe.
