Burning DVD's
hi
I dont no if you lot can help, but its worth a try anyhow. I am trying to burn a divx video onto a dvd, i can get it burn a dvd and it playes on a
cheap and nasty dvd player upstairs in my bedroom, however when i try to play it on our dvd recorder home cinema system it wont play, it says
"disc not formatted" is there anything i should try, or is it a case of it will never work?

Phil, are you burning the DivX as DivX or as an MPEG2 DVD. If it is DivX, are both player DivX compatible. Possibly the cheap one does play DivX but
your other one doesn't

Are you using a dvd/rw ? might confuze the recorder but the stand alone probley dont care, also try dvd santa

ur dvd recorder prob isn't divx compatable. most of them aren't. its only really the cheap dvd players that are compatable with the divx
format.

they are dvd-r disc and the dvd recoder uses them to record of the telly but jusdt cant see them after the computer has burnt it

i have just tried an mp4 format and it still doesnt work

what speed are you burning them at?
you may find that if you are burning them at too high a speed it is not burning the immage "hard enough for the player to see it.
Try burning at single speed.
I have the same problem on our player if I record at 4X or 8X

Also worth checking that your burner is ok with DVD-R & DVD+R or maybe just try an alternative make of disc.
My home DVD player hates DVD+R but will happily play DVD-RAM.

Divx files don't need to be on a dvd, they will play on a divx registered player from a cdr if they are small enough to fit on it. Mine plays
divx and xvid files (mpeg4). It will only burn to dvd+r/rw but will read any format.
