Mangos back
Back on the case....... All sorted...almost.
Grumpy old man moan of the day
Hate Hospitals and there over priced carparks and there over priced shops and the fifty pence a minute phone service calling in or out and five quid a
day for tv.....talk about a captive market.

Good news
And agreed RE: Hospitals - they have you by the 'balls'.
It's shocking to think you pay your taxes - then have to spend money to visit your family/friends in hospital. This government!!!

If you believe you're not crazy, whilst everybody is telling you, you are - then they are definitely wrong!

my housemate recently told me a way around paying for the car parks at hospital. When u leave press the help button, more ofthen than not the gate
will open, if not tell the person u have got the wrong hospital and they will let u out!
it hasn't failed yet! but i guess u need to live somewhere where there is more than one hospital. in our case southampton. it is harsh having to
pay to see ur loved ones in hospital.

Welcome back Mangrove!!!!
Totally agree with the thing about hospitals..... but I would go one step further....
the food. OMG!!!! I remember when I was in for a fortnight. I'm totally convinced that the food is worse than the illness!!!! I mean have any of
you ever hear of chewy macaroni and cheese?
Who the f**K tightened this up!

What you need is private health insurance, private hospital, no charge to park, nice food, free phone etc, etc.
BUT... as my company pays for it, the goverment are taxing me for it !
Hope everythings OK mate.

Glad to hear things are getting sorted.
Couple of notes on hospitals (I feel qualifed as I spent 3 months in Newcastle General last year ).
Food on my ward varied from poor to reasonable depending on when you got it (getting served first was the only benefit of being in the neutropenic
isolation section of the ward) Best thing were the salads, worst the pizza+chips.
The TV+phone is a real rip off. Most of the nurses used their mobiles in the toilets, so did I while neutropenic. Most hospitals have cells on their
roof so they can't be too bothered. Just don't use them near the sensitive machines! There are normal(ish) price payphones in the
general if you could get to them.
Worse thing is the contracts for the TV+phone things meant the hospital isn't allowed to put TV's in the wards. So they had to remove and
lock away the ones provided for free by charities/friends of the hospital . I solved the problem by taking in my own radio and laptop for
entertainment.
Private heath care are very good for minor operations and getting to the front of the queue. You'll find they try and dump you back onto the
NHS if you have anything really nasty. Fortunately for me there isn't a waiting list for cancer

Bloody hell Ian. How are you now? i was wondering what neutropenic meant but then saw the C word at the end. I sincerely hope the treatment is going
well and you will get through it OK.
Sorry for the hijack but im sure i will be excused.

No problem now, just had my one year all clear . 4 years to go before I can get life insurance again though.
Neutropenia is where the chemo drugs beat your immune system down to a level where it doesn't work anymore.
