Ebay postage question...

Just sold an item on Ebay, guy paid and I posted the stuff off. For the first time I sent recorded delivery.

! week later he says he has not got the package. I checked the Royal Mail web site and the tracking number says they could not deliver so note left. He now says he did not get the failed delivery card and now the PO are sending the package back to me. The question is who should pay to post the stuff off again? Me or him? Hard to say if he or the PO are at fault...but I do know I did what I said I would!

Always difficult in these instances, i would cut my losses and pay again otherwise they will probably leave poor feedback and that can do more harm in the long run.
Cheers.

Your biggest problem will be him not believing that you ever sent it. Id try to fax him a copy of the proof of posting, or the tracking number if that proves possible. If the postage wasnt too much (ie under a tenner) id just pay it myself and make sure he knows and is grateful, if it was over that, id get him to go halves on it.

It really is his fault for not acting quick enough, but this would be the easiest way to sort it. Communication is the key here.

All the best!

Hmmm... difficult one is that.

I'd bite the bullet and pay for postage again providing it's nothing too much. Send a copy of the original posting receipt with your item to verify your story.

Communicating effectively is important, so do it well.

Send him the tracking number, then he can check online / phone them to see you did actually send it. Then ask him to pay postage again or collect item as it was clearly not your fault. If he threatens to neg you offer to call the whole sale off and give a refund less postage. You can't let these buyers who are too stupid to take a delivery take advantage of you...

i hope hes a reasonable person, i had this prob with sending a xbox to italy. it was deffo his fult as he gave me the wrong address, it got sent back to me and he wouldn't beleive i had sent it, then claimed his money back through paypal,

i appealed so many times with proof, i had emails and tracking numbers. paypal wouldn't look at them as they were attachments and i tried sending them web pages with the revellant info. they still found in his favor. so in the end i spent £35 sending my xbox to italy and back.

it didn't help that the guy could barely speak english.

hope u can sort it out and hes reasonable

If you expect delivery of a parcel and don't make arrangements to accept delivery, you can't blame the sender.
Tell him to get stuffed! He will have to pay the second lot of postage, as it was his fault.
If he leaves you a -ve feedback, you have the chance to reply on the feedback. Vindictive -ve feedbacks should not affect any future sales you may have.
He should be prepared to settle without anybody getting -ve feedback.
However, that's only what I would do. In the end it's your money and your feedback.

yeah...

feedback isn't payable... maybe if you do send it hem he leaves neutral??? instead of positive. I would make it clear that his adress is what you gave to the postage guys.

Scan in the sended copy and picture the packet..

I would slam him with the hammer and pay by halves... (at much) if he don't agree undo the deal..

at least you have the last word on the negatvie feedback!!

you can always say wrong adress ==> deal undone or some thing...

you cant buy feedback remember that..
and when i see a dealer wich has 0 negative its always suspicous..

also tell him to use translators to english and you to italian..its much easyer

(they are even chinees to english ones!!)

Tks

After you sort it out, wait for 89 days, 23 hours and 59 minutes before leaving some stinking feedback

I'd first try arguing the toss with the post office (no card left etc) and see if they'll cave in.

If they do, then send him the new tracking number so he can track it online and have no excuses.

FWIW, I always send the tracking number to the recipient, and always do it via the web interface to "My Messages" as I can't tamper with this so should stand up in any dispute.

Yeah, and use the Taiwan site so you can leave extra-long feedback
