plumbing polo heater

When plumbing the Polo heater is there a correct and incorrect way to conect the pipes?

Should the bottom one go to the expansion tank etc?

In theory the bottom pipe from the exp tank should go to the bottom (outlet) of the rad.
However when I plumbed my Zetec up this way I had BIG problems with airlocking and "pumping over."
I have now got the expansion tank plumbed to the little outlet on the top side of the rad and have had no problems since.
Even today in the heat of the day thrashing the b****ks out of the engine through the gears it was fine.
I'm using a Golf (ball) exp tank and have the small pipe from the top of the stat housing to the top of the tank.
Running both bypass and heater connections but with no heater installed, so its efectively 2 bypasses.
if you are installing the heater then the pipe from the side exit pipe at the bottom hose to water pump connection should go to the top of the heater matrix and the bottom of the matrix should connect to the angled pipe on the stat housing (sticks out to the offside of the car)
hope this all makes sense and helps.
