Saxo Timing Belt

I've just been asked if I would like to do a cambelt change on an early 1.0l saxo for a few beer tokens by a friend. I was just wondering if anyone has done one before and knows if there are any complications or special tools required etc before I jump in and agree to do it.

Cheers,
Andy.

Andy,

Should be a Pug/Citroen TU series engine in which case there's nothing special required to do the job other than small hands/arms - it's pretty tight in the engine bay. You may need to take off the wheel and remove a plastic wheel arch liner to get proper access.

HTH,
Nick

No should'nt need any special tools just mark the top and bottom pulley from when the belt comes of and refit the new belt, The tensioner has a square cut out in it which i usually just stick a socket drive in and tighten that way. There should be a hole in the block near where the crank sensor is and this should be used to lock the flywheel with a dowel pin or drill bit bit i've never used it,

Hope this helps

Gary

Should be fairly easy job for a locoster. With the covers off pin the flywheel and cam pulley to lock it up. Only tricky part will be to remove crank pulley, 22mm bolt I think, tensioner is easy and don't overtighten the belt if it sings it's too tight.

Drop me a line if you need autodata pics.

Ok, I might well take her up on the offer then.

Don't suppose people know if it's an interference engine or not do they??......Just in case!

change the tensioner too while you are at it, i have seen more failures due to them giving up than the belts snapping, for the sake of another £10, will give u peace of mind.. and yep im pretty sure they are an interference engine
