slipping clutch on a clio
my friend has a clio, and the clutch has started slipping all of a sudden. It still bites fractionally at the very top, but not enough to drive. The
way it came on fast leads me to think its cable related. The clutch lever feels solid still, but the cable can be pulled a lot, and it squeeks from
the pedal end. Still pulls itself back in though. Im guessing the adjuster is buggered, not letting the cable back far enough to bite. Anyone familiar
with this one, and what does it need to fix it? Dissemble and mess with it? Or just scrap the damned thing, as its only worth a few hundred....
Any pointers appreciated!
in fact ive just decided its probably the engine end thats stuffed, as a strong clutch spring should easily pull the cable back if i can do it with
two fingers....

I had a Clio 1.9 diesel and the cable kinked where it goes through the bulkhead because of the soundproofing and eventually broke. I fitted a new
cable and cut some of the stuff away and the clutch became twice as easy to press.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

My first car (a nissan sunny), went from driving normally along the motorway to suddenly revving its nuts off and having to limp home gently, in a
few minutes. It was the clutch worn, so it can come on pretty fast
