Can anyone confirm this?
I have been tolled that the super seven which lotus made had a lot of acceleration and because of this it pulled a wheelie and it was banned because
of this can anyone confirm?

Lotus only made two super sevens, one with a 1340cc cosworth engine(85bhp) 6.9 sec 0-60 and a 1500cc cosworth engine(100bhp) 7.7sec 0-60.
Neither looks fast enough to pop the wheels off the ground. Sorry.

Of course dragsters have wheelie bars but I don't think so. The forces involved would spin the rear tyres long before the amount of traction
and torque required to overcome the not insubstatial weight of the engine, gearbox, driver etc was reached. In effect the car would be revolving
about the rear axle this requires very sticky tyres and enormus power. with 60's tyre technology and 125bhp for a standard series 3 twin cam
(the most powerful seven sold by Lotus) I don't think we're there
Or is this a wind-up and I've fallen for it hook, line and sinker!

The only raod car I have ever seen doing a Wheelie was a friends hotted up vw beetle
he did cheat tho, stuck it into reverse for 20 yards then engaged first gunned the gas and dropped the clutch and he could keep the rear
valance/bumper scraping on the floor for quite a distance
all very amusing when your "18"

You could always just move all the weight in the car out past the back axle until it took less power to get the wheels up! This is what Chrysler did
in the sixties with 'Hemi under Glass'. They put the engine over the rear axle and put the rest of the weight in the boot. It also had
small caster type wheels under the rear valance so that when the car launched all four main wheels would be off the ground and a trail of sparks would
fly out the back. The car was at Goodwood Festival of Speed a couple of years ago and was the star of the hill climb. It was also fast enough to run a
10 second quater mile time on it's back wheels with the driver steering with seperate brakes on the back wheels and looking out through a hole
in the floor.
Quite a few street legal drag cars in the states can lift both front wheels about a foot off the ground during a launch but then you're talking
about cars with over 500 hp with trans brakes and special stall converters designed to put all the power to the rear wheels in one go when making
5000rpm starts. They often run 8 or 9 second quaters and are designed just to to that. I wouldn't want to go round any bends in one!

Then there was the chap in America, dropped a (I believe) 428ish V8 into the back of a BMW -------- ............. Issetta????? !!!!!!! Yep then
turned it into a 6 wheeler (2 small wheels on extensions at the back) cos he couldn't keep the front end down to steer it.

I've seen a 7 do a wheelie - albeit a very short one. It was at Santa Pod a couple of years back. Didn't get close enough to it tho to
see what it was or what was powering it.

Is it just my imagination or did the isonblade do a wheelie at some point? Early Porsche 911s had a habit of lightening up the front wheels quite
severely, so I'd imagine they'd probably wheelie if given a bit more power

You might be right i think the isonblade did pop a wheelie.
I've seen a beach buggy flip right over pulling out of a pub car carpark some time ago,it was in the days pre-seat belts so it was a bit
nasty.
Bent the guy in half broke his pelvis both legs and some ribs,the smell of petrol pouring out of the car was a bit worrying so i went inside to finish

Yep he probably did break his collar bone,not sure if that mattered too much with all the other injuries though.
