Almost met the maker tonight

was heading into aberdeen on the B999 just north of potterton and a red audi coupe crossed the white line on corner. Sure the guy was drunk. I swerved to avoid him but we clipped mirrors (I was in a tin top). Massive bang and shattered glass. I stopped and he just drove on

Could have been a lot worse. Managed to retrieve the plastic cover and it snapped back on ok, but the glass is gone.

Are there any companies that specialise in replacement mirror glass?

Thanks
Adrian

Give me the exact model of your car and I'll have a look in the orphan box at work (VAG bodyshop)

Hmm, lots of things from a Mondeo fit the x type.

In fact I am sure the X Type is a Mondeo in disguise!!

You sound surprised? I thought it was well known that the X-Type uses a modifed Mondeo floorpan and lots of the running gear is the same. Simmilar to the older Saab 9-5 and the Vectra.

Back on subject - be interested to know if you find somewhere that does this sort of thing.

Omega I only seemed to be able to get glass for my omega from a dealer - 45 bloody quid.

Halfrauds et al did "stick on" glass but that's just cr~p if your mirror is heated.

If you pick off all the old glass the, the stick-ons are fine on a heated mirror - did it with my old 420 - heater & electric adjustment all worked fine after.

The glass and the backing plate both came off and I could'nt find it on the road.

I got a new one from the dealer on the saturday. £27 including VAT, which I was expecting more. The guy on ebay selling them wanted £25...

Thanks
