A poll about a poll ?

Do you think this poll is a bit suspect ?

where's the e-type or original mini?

Got to say, when I saw this a while back I immediately dismissed the results. Anyway the prisoner had a "Lotus Seven" which means caterham wouldn't have won anyway. (Not that I'm old enough to have seen the prisoner anyway, it's just cult knowledge)

EDIT: Just noticed my thoughts are echoed in the comment section. Makes me sure it's bogus (unless they were the only options).

maybe it won the options if that's all they were given to vote on, but i suspect the original mini would win as it normaly wins all similar british car icon type accolaides.

This comment on the other site I think sums it up:

The fact that old mini, e type and DB7 don't feature but new mini does suggests that the voters were given a fixed list to choose from. The results are not reliable. They should be expressed as "the best british design from a limited list of choices given is the caterham seven"

If you were asked to chose the best design from the following list, what would you choose?

Moris ital
Austin Alegro
Reliant Regal
Bond Bug
Peel Trident
Caterham Seven

Bond Bug without a shadow of doubt.

As said, the first thing I noticed was the mini. The second thing I noticed was that it was the poo new version! Very much drawbn from a limited list of choices. The mini or similarly iconic cars nearly always win these type of polls given a free choice.

The magnificent RouteMaster bus does it for me.

They have achieved far more than the others in the list put together.

Took me test in one many years ago (20+) and the things are still going. Nothing has stood the test of time better. Still running on two routes in London!
