Anyone have 1.9 TDI engine?

Mines started to make a clicking sound -clicks about 4 times per second so I don't think its tappets - also the oil have never run low.

Its a new sound and I just wondered if:

A) I'm being paranoid
B) Its worth getting it checked out
C) Ignore it - a 55000 mile tdi engine will make weird nosies.

Put some veg oil in to clean it through and smooth things out.

Just make sure its got a Bosch pump and not a Lucas one.

What's it in ?

My Seat Alhambra makes a ticking noise from the passenger footwell. It alarmed me at first until I found out there is a separate diesel heater under the floor running the cars interior heating and the ticking is the small diesel pump fueling it. Only runs in very cold weather though.

My tdi passats got 103k on it and its runs as sweet as a nut apart from the turbo brg's when u rev it up standing still.

At 55k it will probably be nowt to worry about. Is it definatley the engine making the noise or something else?

Whats it in?

I would leave it for a bit and see what happens.

Its in a vw caddy. Sounds like its coming from behind the engine on the drivers side.

"behind the engine on the drivers side" ... it's not you making the ticking noise then, is it?
