Lightning strike

i own a little computer shop and i've replaced loads of PSU's modems and motherboards this week.

Anyone want a LIghtning Conductor?
Most computer damage is from surge from an external strike. The small surge arresters in extension leads are no better than useless. A single phase
surge arrestor on the mains intake would stop most transient overvoltages.

I have a Belkin surge protector which I believe states that if any damage resulting from surges occurs to any equipment connected to this is protected
under warranty. That's why I paid £26 for a piece of wire!!! I will re-read the details...

Mr Lightning,
Any recommendations for surge protection? (Phone line as well as mains).
The reason I ask is that my UPS is starting to play silly beggars and probably needs replacing. I'm not sure that I need the UPS bit any more
(I can live with that risk) but, like Paul, I live in a village with overhead power feed to the local sub-station, so the risk of a surge caused by
lightning is quite high - I need the surge protection.

Good news - bad news
Good news: Paul, family & house are all intact & unscathed.
Bad news: His computer's toast.
Apparently a lightning bolt hit the ground in a field a couple of dozen yards behind his house, right next to a power distribution pole.
