Ecotec - rebuild - sell - scrap?

Ive got a broken vauxhall ecotec engine (2.0L 16v). A big end bearing has gone on it - probably from its previous owner running it with no oil/ragging the nuts off it. Basically im not sure what to do with it. Ive never rebuilt an engine but I'd like to give it a go. I assume that i the bearing has gone I'm gonna have to get the crank reground. Shall i chuck it or fix it?

For what it'll cost in your time/workshop time/gaskets etc you'd be better to scrap it and buy a used lump. Or strip it first for a better understanding of an engine build and then scrap it. The head could be worth a bit of dosh as well.
