Scrapheap Challenge Series 10
I had this email today:
Are you up for a mechanically minded challenge?
Are you creative, enthusiastic and competitive?
Could you lead a team to victory?
Who would have thought that when Apollo 13's service module exploded and NASA engineers had only a short period of time to construct an air
filter out of parts available on the spacecraft, it would have provided inspiration for one of Channel 4's longest running entertainment series
and spawned a US version called Junkyard Wars that ran for eight series?
Every week two teams battle it out to become Britain's best bodgers of crazy contraptions. The teams of fanatical fabricators have bodged and
bashed their way through some extraordinary challenges, including building snowmobiles, monster trucks, mono-wheels and jet racers.
As the juggernaut that is Scrapheap Challenge strides into its tenth series we're looking for willing contenders to take part - Would you like
the opportunity to build a huge great big hulking machine and watch it obliterate the competition?

I'm sure plenty of teams could be made up on this forum, all you need is one good welder another with absolute insane ideas kicking around the
grey area and two umpa lumpas.

Yeah, I'd be up for it. Know my way round a tool kit and can weld, don't mind a bit of labouring either.

I'd be up for it mate!
Welding - no problem
Bodging - spent all my summers from age 12 to 20 doing "fitting" work for farms/contractors!!!!!!
Cars - nuff said - look in archive!
Teamwork - love it, great fun, can't beat a team of insane engineering bodge artists when it comes to knocking something up fast!!!
(PS pretty sure scrappy races would like the twin bike engine Fiat 126 too lol )

Retro RWD is the way forward...........automotive fabrication, car restoration, sheetmetal work, engine conversion
retro car restoration and tuning

All i can say from experience is get applying NOW. It is a fantastic experience. Just remember it is a TV programme so dont take it too seriously. It
is engineered to make good viewing but at the same time is a totally awesome experience that you will have for the rest of your life.
I did it in 1999, our driller thriller team (from Black and Decker) built the land yacht that came a close (cough cough) second. We lost to the series
champions so not so bad.
Its not easy to get in so be prepared. We had to submit a video first. Then were invited to the HQ for aptitude tests and interviews. They look for
teams that are a bit off the wall, certainly very talented at what they do and outgoing enough to make good TV.

I'd second NS DEV's nomination - although occasionally he gets all too fussed about doing it perfectly and needs a kick up the arse
(no, i'm never going to forget you fussing over an inch)
