Punto Problem

Help please

Sorry if this sounds as I cn't be bothered to get under the car and look but I can't just get the car into my garage at the moment...

Mrs Mooky's Punto (97 S Sporting) is dripping quite a bit of fuel out just in front of the OSR wheel. This only when the engine is running.

There looks to be a black something with pipes sticking out of the fuel tank there - is this the fuel pump or some sort of filter?

Anyone know if this is a common problem and if so what is the cure?

TIA

Cheers

Mark

It's a filter, just behind the drivers headlight. Common fault.

Does this cause fuel to drip from the rear?

Update:

I got my mum to take it to the local one man garage who rang me and asked which main dealer had been servicing the car

Naturally I said it hadn't been near a garage for some considerable time but I had been giving it regular oil and filters changes etc.

He said I'd never looked under the back cos the fuel filter has rusted all the way through.
