Urgent Tin Top Help Wanted
My wife borrowed my tin top last night (it's a '98 BMW 540 Estate) and apart from the usual moving the seat, mirrors, changing the cd,
altering the heating settings and leaving me with an empty petrol tank, she has done something to it that I can't figure out.
On the way into work this morning I had six or seven people pull out in front of me at junctions, roundabouts or just change lanes without seeing me.
I had my headlights on, and unusually for a BMW driver I actually indicate.
Somehow she's pressed a button or altered a setting that has engaged the "Klingon Cloaking Device" or "Stealth Mode". I
have looked in the manual, but can find no reference to such a device being fitted to the car.
Does anyone know where the button to switch this off is located? Or what BMW might have called such a device?
Cheers
Mike

You need to U2U member JamesB007, I'm sure he will be able to assist.
You could alternatively try "Q"
I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator
headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names
furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours.

Usually in a BMW there's a knob behind the steering wheel. Yours is missing this apparently.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Just fell off my chair laughing great comedy as usual.
Guiness - did she not pull the sun visors down and open the mirror as well so the light stays on? Did Ben leave the back light on? Sounds to me like
you get off lightly when she borrows car, my wife has a habit of putting the wheels through a motorsport lightening programme and remodelling the
front end to improve aerodynamics!!!!
God knows why nobody has seen you this morning - maybe you need a bigger car!!
Have you tried the following sequence;
Ignition key out,
Side lights on,
ign key in but not turned,
rear fog on,
turn key to posn 1 for 4.76 seconds and back to rest,
sun visor down and mirror open,
pretend to check make-up,
temp setting to max and then immediately to min,
Seat full forward then bounce vigorously back one click at a time to the 4.5th click,
Gear knob to drive, then reverse, then second gear in angry stylee,
ASC button pressed, heater to max then ASC depressed,
Reset all buttons to normal,
Start car,
Seat belt on,
jig arse forward so seat locks into 4th click with a satisifying twangggggg.
That should fix it. Its just a matter of repeating the switch on procedure again. Mine suffers the same.
Oh - If you dont have auto box you need to crunch 1st and 4th gears whilst hitting red line, or is it 2nd or 3rd????? Try both - sure to work.

Quality procedure - is this tailored for Mike or can anyone use it?

Are you sure you weren't in Swindon? That stuff happens all the time here. About two weeks after I moved here, I'd learned not to join a
roundabout at the same time as anyone in any other lane. Apparently they make the roundabouts three lanes wide so people can start in the inside lane,
cut across all three and back, without indicating, to take the first exit.
I now make sure I'm completely in front of them, or completely behind them, to make sure I don't get corner swiped. On the occasions
I've found myself next to someone, I've bumped tyres on the drivers-side kerb to make sure I don't get tw@tted.
You'd think with so many of the damn things, swindonners would have to learn to get round them properly to pass their test.....

Hmmm Magic Roundabout.
The first time I went to Swindon I was driving a 7.5 tonne truck. Closed my eyes and just went for it across the middle of the damn thing!
Cheers

flash back
I went across this blasted thing about 5 years ago towing a light aeroplane! in rush hour! WHAT THE F%$KS THIS!!! I think was the term used at the
time. I hadn't a clue what was going on there were cars just going everywhere. I was just sick to my stomach and shaking by the time we got out.
When I called back home to tell them about it they thought I was joking till I showed them pictures.
